Summer 2025 Course in the Bay Area
ItsMagic.Club is a magic club for middle and high schoolers (Grades 6 to 12) that gives an exciting and rewarding experience to its members. Magic is a performing art that is both entertaining and educational. Learning the art of magic can help students develop self-confidence, communication skills, and creativity. It can also improve their problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
The art of magic involves a wide range of skills, including sleight of hand, misdirection, and showmanship. Learning the art of magic requires practice, discipline, and dedication. Students will need to spend time practicing their skills and learning new techniques. They will also need to work on their stage presence and communication skills, as magic is not only about the trick but also about the delivery. The intent is not to give away major magic secrets but to introduce simple tricks and concepts, which can be a good foundation.
In addition to learning the art of magic, the ultimate intent of this club is to have students prepared to perform magic shows at nearby hospitals and shelters to entertain recovering patients and the less fortunate. Magic has the ability to put a smile on everyone’s face and hopefully will help them forget their pains briefly. These performances can also help students build their confidence and showcase their skills to a wider audience.
The mini workshop will be spread over 7 weeks. The first few sessions are in person; and the rest will be online. In-person prep before performance will be planned.
All students will be given a magic wand & kit. Most other props used will be household items that will be easily available. Professional props will be provided for the performance.
Abhiram Bhavaraju, a student from Lynbrook High School is the founder of ItsMagic.Club and will be conducting the classes. Guest instructors will include other magic enthusiasts. Abhiram learnt magic from a very young age and has given his first performance while he was in first grade. He subsequently had the opportunity to entertain audience of all ages and celebrities with his magic. He is keen on leveraging his skills for a social cause and intends to build a community of young magicians who can use this talent to entertain the less fortunate.
